Sugarcane-Straw is manufactured with Bagasse. What is Bagasse? Well, Bagasse is the dry pulpy fibrous residue that remains after sugarcane stalks are crushed to extract their juice.
It is used as a biofuel for the production of heat, energy, and electricity, and in the manufacture of pulp and building materials, like Straws.

Our degradation technology has the similar process like a tree leaf, leaving no heavy metals or toxicity in the environment
Eco-Straw is manufactured with primary polymer and Oxo-biodegradable (OBPs) catalytic additives that facilitates the degradation process without affecting any chemical or physical properties of the product.
Once Eco Straw is expose to oxygen, water, light (sun) and consume by microorganism, biodegradation process starts and the Eco Straw will transformed into biomass, CO2 and water, ending the Oxo-biodegradation within 6 to 36 months depending on the environment conditions.

1. What is Bagasse?
Bagasse is the sugarcane fiber that remains after completing the process of extracting the sugarcane juice. Bagasse has been considered a waste for a long time and therefore was generally burned causing problems to the environment.
Using cane waste, bagasse to make disposable products is a good solution, because it is a way of recycling organic waste.
Bagasse is biodegradable and behavioural according to your information. What does that mean?
Yes, Bagasse and bagasse products are biodegradable between 60 to 90 days, which depends on the conditions of said decomposition, that is, temperature, movement, turn-over, humidity, etc.
Like any biodegradable waste, our bagasse products decompose faster when crushed into smaller pieces and exposed to adequate temperatures and humidity.
In a homemade compost system, bagasse products will degrade in the same time as other organic waste, that is, in more or less 90 days depending on temperature and the system used.
What are the advantages and benefits of using bagasse products?
Bagasse is 100% behavioural and degrades between 60 and 90 days depending on the circumstances.
Bagasse is a "tree-free" product, that is, no tree is cut down to produce bagasse, and therefore bagasse is a renewable and sustainable product.
How long does the bagasse take to biodegrade? What does the biodegradation time depend on?
The time it takes for bio degradation of our product depends on the temperature, the movement of the compost, and humidity, all our products from the Bagasse line biodegrade between 60 and 90 days.
It should be noted that for it to biodegrade in a home system it will be necessary to chop the products into small pieces to improve its biodegradation. In professional facilities, professional machines and enzymes are used to improve and facilitate the process and therefore take less time to biodegrade.

How does it compare to a normal straw

After It´s useful life the oxo-biodegradable additive takes effect and the product begins to break down in the presence of oxygen.
What will it becomes?
The product will eventually becomes carbon dioxide, water and biomass without leaving fragments and oils in the evironment.
How does it become FOSSIL FREE / OIL FREE?
The mixture of polypropylene and Oxo-Biodegradable additive D2W, FDA certified raw materials is made dry using a centrifugation system. For this reason the ECO STRAW is 100% oil free.
THE LIFE CYCLE OF OUR ECO-STRAW
STEP ONE
Oxo-Biodegradable additive, D2W, is added at the manufacturing stage and extruded at the factory in to our ECO-STRAW.
STEP TWO
The product behaves lika any other during its intended service life.The shelf life of our product (un-opened) maintained at 20°C is 18 months from the manufactured date.
STEP THREE
The useful life (dwell time) of our product is approximately 2-4 months once the product has been opened.
STEP FOUR
After its useful life the oxo-biodegradable additive takes effect and the product begins to degrade in the presence of oxygen. After 4 months of opening, the product will begin to show signs of the photo-initiation process, and then a rapid breakdown of properties resulting in acute embrittlement after a further 3-6 months.
STEP FIVE
The product will end up in a landfill environment where the biodegradation will take over and eventually the product becomes carbon-dioxide, water and biomass
WHAT D2W DOES?
d2w accelerates the natural process of oxidation until the product is no longer a plastic, but a material which can be bio-assimilated (i.e. used as a food source) by bacteria and fungi on land or sea.
Best of all, if it escapes collection and ends up as litter in the environment, it will degrade and biodegrade in a continuous, irreversible and unstoppable process until there is nothing left, in the same way as nature’s waste.
