Our “cassava bags” are 100% Organic CASSAVA starch and Fossil free. Recognise and rewarded from the Global Goal organisation and Swedish laboratories as the first 100% plastic free bags in the world. Our product belong to a new category and NOT the traditional POLY chart. The category is called Biomass and hydrosoluble.
They are completely water-soluble, compostable and biodegradable and will decompose in a similar manner to food.
Available in many different shapes and sizes with customised orders also available on request.
While polyethylene bags can take hundreds of years to degrade, our packaging takes 2 minutes to dilute in hot water.
Unlike the traditional packaging, our bags are not toxic and can be consumed by animals.
If for any reason our packaging ends up in the ecosystem under solar and humidity conditions, 180 days will be enough to degrade and reintegrate it to the life cycle of the earth.

What sizes of cassava bags do you have?
We have many different sizes to suit different uses. It’s best to speak to our team who will send you the catalogue.
What are cassava bags made from?
They are made naturally primarily from cassava root starch, vegetable polymers and natural resin.
What’s the minimum order quantity of your cassava bags?
The minimum order for our standard bags is 1,000 pieces per order. For a customised design, the minimum order is higher – speak to our team to discuss.
How strong are cassava bags?
They are not as sturdy as plastic bags. However, they’re definitely strong enough to hold groceries and fashion items. The load capacity depends on the bag type and size.
How fast do cassava bags degrade?
In natural conditions, they will degrade by around 90% in 7 or 8 months, naturally returning into biomass, CO2 and H2O. In a commercial composting facility, they will degrade by 85% within 3 months.
Will the bag dissolve in water?
The bag will get soften and break easily if it has direct contact with normal temperature water and could dissolve in hot temperature water above 90 degrees C. This is to show the worst case scenario if the bags ended up in landfill, river or ocean it will cause no harm to any living beings. Though, the best end-of-life scenario for the bag is to compost it.
Is the bag edible?
The main purpose of the bag is to carry stuff and/or multifunction bag. The bag has passed Oral Toxicity Test but please not that this test cant be compare in any way to food regulatory test, thus this product is not considered as food or beverage.
How long is the shelf life?
The shelf life is up to 2 years if stored in its original-sealed protective PE packaging. Once the PE packaging is opened, the shelf life of cassava bags shortens to months (less than 1 year) when stored in ideal storage condition
What is the printing ink made from?
The ink for the printing logo is alcohol based, heavy metal free, non-toxic and eco friendly.
What can be carried inside the cassava bag and what is the capacity?
The cassava bag is most ideal to carry dry items. The load capacity depends on the bags specifications / thickness. For our generic product, you can always check on our catalog product information
Can the Cassava bag be re-used?
Yes, of course, please re-use it as many times as possible.
What about the end life of the used cassava bag?
We highly recommend you to compost the cassava bag after its usage. The cassava bag can be composted with home composting method even in your own backyard. The time needed to compost the bag depends on condition of the composting set up (i.e materials used in the composting mixture) and the treatment applied to it.
How should I store and handle the bag?

Cassava bags that are already opened from its PE packaging must be stored in clean room with good air circulation and natural ventilation and humidity about 60%. of tropical climate. A due to its organic nature, there's a chance that the bag will get moldy or lose it's moisture and become crunchy - like dry leaves.

Due to the organic materials used to make cassava bags, humid conditions or extreme weather should be avoided.

Please avoid prolonged contact of cassava bags with water as it will alter the bag's texture and durability.
